Walking to save
lives to prevent suicide |
 |
103.3
KFR wants you to know in the United States, a person
dies by suicide every 16 minutes, claiming more than
33,000 lives each year. It is estimated that an
attempt is made every minute; with close to one
million people attempting suicide annually. With
your participation, you will not just be walking,
and your donors will not just be writing a check -
you will be helping to save lives. By walking in the
Out of the Darkness Community Walks to benefit the
American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP),
you will be walking with thousands of people
nationwide to raise money for AFSP's vital research
and education programs to prevent suicide and save
lives, increase national awareness about depression
and suicide, advocate for mental health issues, and
assist survivors of suicide loss.
The Out of the Darkness Walk in Kalamazoo is Sat.
Sept. 18th at Noon at Bronson Park. Sign up by

Create Memories and Make Dreams Come True |
 |
To a
child with a life-threatening medical condition, a
wish is more than just a vacation, a coveted gift or
a day of fun. A wish is something magical for a
child to look forward to – something besides doctor
visits and hospital stays. A wish is the joy that
wish parents experience when they see their children
smile, laugh and play carefree – perhaps for the
first time in a long time. A wish is the strength
that medical professionals witness when they treat
wish kids who are anticipating their wishes or
sharing photos and stories after their wish
adventures. A wish is hope that volunteers, donors,
sponsors and community members feel in knowing they
helped make a courageous child’s dreams come true. A
wish is a treasured memory that lasts a lifetime …
and leaves a legacy. If you'd like to help, contact
Make-A-Wish's West Michigan office and
